We are located 9 km north of Waskatenau, a small village in Smoky Lake County approximately 90 km northeast of Edmonton. Wasketenau is a Cree word that means "opening in the bank" and refers to the cut in a nearby ridge through which the Waskatenau Creek flows.

The word is pronounced as WAH-SET-NAH. (The “k” is silent.)

Depending on where you are located, it is roughly an hour drive from Edmonton to us, but that drive is well worth it.
